Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Colombian forward Luis Diaz from Liverpool on a four-year deal. Diaz has left Liverpool after spending three and a half years at the club. The 28-year-old winger played a key role in Liverpool's Premier League title triumph last season and leaves Anfield as a Premier League champion.

Diaz was on Bayern's radar for a long time this summer, and the winger was keen on joining the Bundesliga giants. He made his intentions clear about wanting to leave the club after Liverpool rejected an initial £58.6 million offer from Bayern earlier this month. Bayern agreed a deal with the Premier League champions after placing a fresh bid of £65.5 million for the winger.

Diaz did travel for Liverpool's pre-season tour amid speculation about his future, however, he was left out of the squad for the club's friendly clash against AC Milan on Saturday to have his medical ahead of his move to Bayern. The German club were looking at several options for the wing position, however, they decided to secure the signing of Diaz, considering his experience and pedigree.

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for a fee of around £37 million and quickly established his credentials as one of the best wingers in the league. He became a vital cog in the Liverpool squad and played a key role in the club's success during his time with the Premier League giants. Diaz scored 41 goals for Liverpool in 148 appearances across all competitions.

He scored 17 goals across competitions last season, enjoying his best season with the club as Liverpool won the Premier League title. He won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup with Liverpool in his first season at the club in 2021-22 and was part of the team that reached the Champions League final in the same season, missing out on the trophy after losing to Real Madrid in the final.

Good to be leaving with the feeling of duty fulfilled: Diaz

In his farewell message for the Liverpool fans, Diaz said he arrived at the English club with a lot of dreams and managed to fulfil nearly all of them. He also expressed satisfaction at the fact that he is leaving the club after helping them lift the Premier League. The Colombian winger also paid tribute to his former teammate, late Diogo Jota, who lost his life in a car accident earlier this year.

"I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together," Diaz wrote on Instagram.

"I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart.

"It's good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn't lost one of ours in such a tragic way. I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him. Thank you for everything," he added.
