ICC Imposes Sanctions: Haris Rauf Banned, Suryakumar Yadav Fined After Asia Cup 2025 Clash

| Updated on: Nov 05, 2025 | 08:18 AM

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has levied significant penalties against players following the contentious India-Pakistan clashes at the Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been banned for two One Day International matches and received two separate 30% fines for on-field misconduct against India.

These sanctions, coupled with four accumulated demerit points, result in an automatic suspension from the upcoming South Africa series. Concurrently, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30% of his match fee.

The ICC cited "bringing the game into disrepute" for his remarks made during the Asia Cup, expressing solidarity with the Indian armed forces and victims of the Pahalgam terror attacks. While other players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Sahibzada Farhan, received cautions, they avoided fines or bans.

The differing nature of the penalties underscores the ICCs distinct approach to on-field behaviour versus off-field statements, intensifying the debate over politics in sports.
