New Delhi: A trivial extramarital affair took a bloody turn when a pregnant woman was stabbed by her lover in front of her husband, on the streets of Delhi. In an attempt to save his injured wife, the husband suffered deadly injuries.
After arriving at the hospital, the wife and her lover were declared dead by the authorities. As per the police, the pregnant woman, identified as Shalini, was attacked multiple times with a knife by her former live-in partner, Aashu, in Delhi's Nabi Karim area late on Saturday night.
"The incident occurred around 10.15 pm on Saturday when Aakash and Shalini were on their way to meet her mother, Sheila, on Qutub Road. Aashu suddenly arrived there and attacked Aakash with a knife," police said. The confrontation happened in a public area and escalated quickly. Several people witnessed the altercation.
The incident took place while Shalini was on her way to meet her mother with her husband, Aakash. All of a sudden, Aashu appeared and tried to stab Aakash, who managed to dodge the first blow. Aashu then turned towards Shalini, who was in an e-rickshaw, and stabbed her multiple times.
The story starts when Shalini and Akash's relationship started to deteriorate a few years ago, and that's when she had an affair with Aashu. They even lived together for some time. Shalini and Akash later mended the differences between each other and started living together with their two children.
Ashu was upset to witness the situation. He claimed to be the father of Shalini's unborn child, police said. Sources suggest Shalini insisted that Akash was the father. Unable to control his rage, Ashu hatched a murder plan.
Police have registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
