Apple has joined the ultra-slim smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone Air, which is aimed at being both a flagship in terms of performance and possessing an incredibly thin profile. Coming along with the iPhone 17 line, the Air directly competes with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, released a few months prior and also focused on sleekness and the ability to be carried anywhere. Both the phones offer the best performance, high-quality displays and compact constructions, and they can be attractive to every user who wants to be stylish at the same time as powerful.

The two models seem to be similar on paper, although slight variations in size, weight and features differentiate them. The iPhone Air is the thinnest Apple phone, with a thickness of 5.6 mm, and the Galaxy S25 Edge has a thickness of 5.8 mm. This distinction may not be a big deal, though the rounded shape of Apple makes the Air look much slimmer to the hand. Samsung retaliates with a larger display and a more adaptable camera arrangement, which also gives additional benefits to those who appreciate media.

Price and variants

The price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge begins at Rs 109,999 in the 12GB + 256GB model and Rs 121,999 in the 512GB model. The iPhone Air is of a high price, beginning with Rs 119900 with the same amount of storage. The more expensive models reach Rs 159,900 in 1TB. The price gap emphasises the strategy adopted by Apple of positioning the Air as a design-first device.

Display and design

The iPhone Air is equipped with a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED ProMotion display, which can hit 3,000 nits peak brightness. Samsung chooses a display that is a bit bigger: 6.7-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X. They both share a 120 Hz refresh rate, yet the larger screen size and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection of the Galaxy provide an advantage forimmersive viewing. The Air is made thinner and more durable due to Ceramic Shield 2 glass that Apple claims is four times more resistant to cracking.

Camera showdown

The iPhone Air has one rear camera, which has 48MP with OIS and 2x zoom, and one Centre Stage 18MP selfie camera. Samsung chooses another path, providing two-camera switching, where the primary sensor is an enormous 200MP but with an ultra-wide lens of 12MP and a 12MP selfie shooter. The Galaxy S25 Edge has an edge over those who value the versatility and detail.

Performance and battery

The iPhone Air runs on the A19 Pro chipset with 12GB RAM and the C1X modem, which provides increased connectivity. Samsung matches the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC with the same amount of RAM. On battery, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3,900mAh cell in comparison with the reported 3,149mAh of the iPhone. Both can support 25W wired charging and Qi wireless charging, but the greater battery capacity gives Samsung more power.

Which one should you buy?

The iPhone Air is designed to be used by individuals who desire the Apple software platform, high-quality durability and a phone that is as light as a feather. The Galaxy S25 Edge is a better choice for the user who would appreciate the larger screen, greater camera options, and increased battery capacity with a low starting price. They both are great, and one should choose between the Apple ecosystem polish and Samsung versatility.
