OpenAI has released an improvement to the GPT-5 model, which has given ChatGPT a more friendly tone following user criticism. Numerous people complained that the new model was too formal and was not as interesting in its tone as the previous models. According to OpenAI, the modification only includes some gentle positive expressions but does not fall into the pit of being friendly and sycophantic. The update is already available and is expected to take all users a day.
The shift is following the turbulent release of GPT-5 last week. Users commented that there was a decrease in the length and expressiveness of responses as compared to the older models. The criticism resembled earlier criticisms against GPT-4o; only this time people were frustrated that GPT-5 was too cold and detached. The new adjustments will make OpenAI hope that user satisfaction will be increased and their confidence in the platform will be restored.
Nick Turley, the ChatGPT chief, confirmed the fact that users can even further customise their AI to use Custom Instructions. He also gave a clue about future tools, which will enable individuals to tweak personality traits even further. At present, the four preset styles, Cynic, Robot, Listener, and Nerd, are available to paying users only and are locked to the free tier.
After deleting the older models and reducing the use limits on Plus subscribers, OpenAI met unanticipated opposition. A lot of them threatened to cancel their plans priced at $20 a month, which compelled the company to increase the limits and reinstate the model picker. CEO Sam Altman had created lots of hype around GPT-5; however, the launch highlighted that users are interested in stability and flexibility as much as additions. Through this update, OpenAI is trying to achieve a more balanced performance and personality.
