New Delhi: Reliance Industries has taken a bold leap into artificial intelligence with the announcement of Reliance Intelligence, a new subsidiary aimed at building India’s AI backbone. The move was unveiled during the 48th Annual General Meeting held on August 29, 2025, where Mukesh Ambani outlined an ambitious vision for AI to power Reliance’s next decade of growth.
The announcement also saw participation from global tech leaders. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared their support, underlining the scale of partnerships that will shape Reliance’s AI future. Together, these collaborations could position India as a serious player in the global AI economy.
Mukesh Ambani described Reliance Intelligence as a wholly-owned subsidiary with four missions:
Ambani said Jio transformed India’s digital economy in less than a decade and Reliance Intelligence will now aim to do the same with AI.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai called India a “special place” and credited Reliance with helping millions of Indians access affordable internet. He highlighted the next leap with AI, announcing a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region powered by clean energy from Reliance and connected by Jio’s network.
Pichai said, “The AI opportunity in India is extraordinary. It will transform every industry and organisation – from the largest enterprises to the smallest kirana store.”
As Reliance’s largest public cloud partner, Google Cloud will power mission-critical workloads and co-develop advanced AI services for businesses across telecom, retail, energy, and financial services.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the collaboration with Reliance as a step toward delivering personal superintelligence. He said, “Meta and Reliance are going to deliver our open-source AI models to Indian businesses to help them fuel their work. With Llama, we have seen how AI can amplify human potential.”
Zuckerberg stressed that the partnership will allow Llama models to reach businesses of all sizes, from start-ups in small towns to large enterprises in major cities. He added that this venture could become a model for how AI and eventually superintelligence can be delivered to everyone.
The creation of Reliance Intelligence marks one of the biggest private sector commitments to AI infrastructure in India. With gigawatt-scale data centres, sovereign hosting, and partnerships with Google and Meta, Reliance is preparing for a decade where AI could redefine everything from farming to factories.
Ambani noted that Reliance is also investing in humanoid robotics, with the goal of making India a leader in AI-powered automation.
The initiative echoes how Reliance Jio disrupted telecom in the last decade. This time, the target is AI, not just for consumers, but for enterprises and critical national sectors.
