Charlie Kirk: Conservative Activist Fatally Shot at Utah University
Conservative activist and prominent media personality Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on Wednesday at Utah Valley University. Kirk, founder of the conservative student organisation Turning Point USA and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was participating in a Q&A session as part of his "American Comeback Tour" when he was struck by a bullet fired from a nearby building.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest of a suspect after a manhunt, although the suspect's identity has not yet been publicly released. The incident prompted widespread condemnation, with President Trump ordering flags to be flown at half-mast in tribute.
Former President Barack Obama and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also expressed their disapproval of the attack. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the shooting a "political assassination."
