'Didn't do for Nobel': US President Trump repeats India-Pakistan truce claim

US President Donald Trump once again repeated his claim that he helped resole the India-Pakistan conflict after India launched Operation Sindoor, following the attack in Pahalgam. The US leader claimed that the Gaza Peace Deal was the 8th war that he had helped solve. He has repeatedly claimed credit for the India-Pakistan truce, even though India has repeatedly denied any involvement of the US President in the talks with Pakistan.

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump once again repeated his claim that he helped solve the India-Pakistan conflict. He claimed that the Gaza truce was the 8th war that he had solved during his presidency. The claims were made onboard Air Force one, while talking to reporters, before the US President flew to Israel.

Will solve ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict: Trump

Trump however did not just stop at taking credit for solving past wars, he also claimed that "now he was good at solving wars" and would soon end the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have been exchanging fire for the past few days, after Pakistani jets bombed areas in the neighbouring country. Pakistan had claimed that Afghanistan was harbouring terrorists and had bombed Kabul. In response Taliban fighters attacked several Pakistani posts and captured them.

Talking to reporters onboard Air Force One, before starting his trip to the Middle East, Trump said, "This will be my eighth war that I have solved, and I hear there is a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I'll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one. Because I am good at solving wars...Think about India, Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that were going on for years. We had one going for 31, one going for 32, one going for 37 years, with millions of people being killed in every country and I got every one of those done, for the most part, within a day. It's pretty good."

He further claimed that it was an honour for him to have solved so many conflicts. He claimed that he had saved millions of lies. The US President then once again talked about the Nobel Peace Prize, which he had been demanding, but failed to get. He said that he did not solve the conflicts to get a Nobel. He was quoted as saying, "In all fairness to the Nobel Committee, it was for 2024. This (Nobel Peace Prize) was picked for 2024. But there are those who say you could make an exception because a lot of things happened during 2025 that are done and complete and great. But I did not do this for the Nobel. I did this for saving lives."

The US President said that he had to take economic measures, read tariffs to resolve some conflicts. In this he gave the example of the India-Pakistan conflict after Operation Sindoor, which India had launched. Trump said, "I settled a few of the wars just based on tariffs. For example, between India and Pakistan, I said, if you guys want to fight a war and you have nuclear weapons. I am going to put big tariffs on you both, like 100 per cent, 150 per cent, and 200 per cent...I said I am putting tariffs. I had that thing settled in 24 hours. If I didn't have tariffs, you could have never settled that war."

India has however categorically denied any involvement of President Trump in the negotiations with Pakistan after Operation Sindoor in May 2025. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar told Parliament that PM Narendra Modi did not have any phone call with Trump asking him to stop the anti-terrorist operation. India maintains that the decision to halt firing was based on direct talks between India and Pakistan, their militaries and no third party was involved.

However Trump has repeated his claims of having solved the conflict numerous times and continues to do so.
