Employee beheads Indian-origin man at US motel with machete over broken washing machine

A 50-year-old Indian-origin man, Chandramouli Nagamallaiah, was brutally beheaded in Dallas, Texas, following a dispute over a broken washing machine. The accused, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, attacked Nagamallaiah with a machete in front of his wife and son.

New Delhi: In a gruesome incident, an Indian-origin man has been attacked with a machete and beheaded in front of his wife and son. The murder took place during a violent dispute on September 10 morning at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard, east of Downtown Dallas in the US.

How did the murder take place?

The person who was killed was a 50-year-old Indian-origin man, Chandramouli Nagamallaiah, and the one who is accused of his murder is the 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez. The violent dispute between them took place over a broken washing machine.

According to reports, a witness has said that she and Cobos-Martinez worked at the motel. They were busy cleaning the room when Nagamallaiah told Cobos-Martinez not to use the broken washing machine. While he told both not to use it, the instruction upset Cobos-Martinez as Nagamallaiah reportedly delivered the message through the female colleague, who translated it, instead of telling him directly.

Then, Cobos-Martinez attacked Nagamallaiah with a machete several times. The accused chased him as Nagamallaiah tried to run down the parking lot to the front office. His wife and son tried to stop Cobos-Martinez, but they were pushed away.

As per the investigators, he removed Nagamallaiah’s cell phone and key card before beheading him. He reportedly kicked the head twice into the parking lot, but he threw it in a dumpster.

The accused has been arrested

When the crews of Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived at the scene, they found a blood-covered Cobos-Martinez still carrying the machete. Police arrested him, and Cobos-Martinez admitted to the crime during interrogation. He is currently lodged at Dallas County Jail. He has a criminal history, including charges of assault and indecency with a child in Houston.

The Consulate General of India, Houston, took to X and condoled the incident, adding, "We are in touch with the family and offering all possible assistance. The accused is in the custody of the Dallas Police. We are following up on the matter closely."
