New Delhi: The Meghalaya Police has filed a chargesheet in the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. Raja's wife Sonam Raghuwanshi and her lover Raj Kushwaha have been named among the 5 accused in the case. The accused have been charged under several sections of the penal code. These include, sections 103(1) BNS, 238(a) BNS and criminal conspiracy (section 61(2) BNS).
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police filed the chargesheet in the court of a first class judicial magistrate, after thoroughly investigating the murder of the Indore businessman. The chargesheet was submitted in the court located in the Sihra subdivision on Friday evening.
The police have already arrested Raja Raghuwanshi's wife, Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha and their accomplices, Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Singh. All the accused are in judicial custody at present.
The police have said that Sonam and Raj had together conspired to kill Raja. The other 3 accused just helped them execute the plan and helped kill the man, according to the officials. All the accused persons have been charged under relevant sections of the law.
The police have also named 3 co-accused in the case. These include property dealer Silomey James, Lokendra Tomar, the owner of the building where Sonam hid after the murder, and Balbir Ahirwar, a security guard. All three of them are accused of destroying and hiding evidence. All of them were arrested by the police, but are now out on bail.
The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case had gained national attention. He was killed during his honeymoon trip by his wife and hired killers. Following the admission of the chargesheet in court, his family members are hoping that now the legal process will move at a fast pace and the murderers of the man will be punished.
