The duo had met on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg in 2023 and with their current phase of engagement will be expected to take ties between the two countries further. “Ethiopia is an important and trusted partner in the Global South and the African context. The current visit reflects India’s commitment towards deepening South-South Cooperation and strengthening our partnership with Africa,” the MEA added.

Finally Oman is another important partner for India in the region. India shares a special partnership with Oman, and it is evident when it comes to both people or trade. To underline this shared commitment, a number of important deals are expected to go through with this visit by the Prime Minister. Discussions between the two countries on an FTA, officially called the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), began in November 2023, and is expected to continue and finalise.
