New Delhi: Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday thanked US President Donald Trump for his " leadership, partnership, and unwavering commitment" as Hamas and Israel agreed to the first phase of Gaza Peace Plan. The plan has been forwarded by Trump. The Israeli leader gave full credit to Trump for helping reach this critical turning point and aiding the release of hostages from Hamas custody.
Rejoicing the ceasefire and homecoming of the hostages, the Israeli PM took to social media platform, 'X' to share the news. He wrote, "With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel." He added, "From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved."
Netanyahu also thanked US President Trump for his role in bringing about the peace deal. He described Trump as a "great friend" whose steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the great efforts, have led both Israel and Hamas to "reach this critical turning point".
He wrote on the social media platform, "I thank President Trump for his leadership, his partnership, and his unwavering commitment to the safety of Israel and the freedom of our hostages."
At the end Netanyahu prayed to God for blessings upon Israel, America and their "great alliance".
Just a day earlier, US President Trump had proudly announced the agreement on the first phase of the Gaza Peace plan. He took to social media platform, 'Truth Social' to make the announcement.
Trump wrote, "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"
According to the authorities in Gaza, some 67,000 people have lost their lives in th Israeli attacks so far. The war started when on October 7,2023, the Hamas raided Israel and killed 1,200 people and abducted 251. Those abducted were kept as hostages in Gaza. Many also died during captivity.
