New Delhi: Issuing an apparent warning to New Delhi, a youth wing leader of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s party, the Pakistan Muslim League, has said that Pakistan’s military and missile capabilities would be activated if Bangladesh faces any attack.

Kamran Saeed Usmani said this in a video message shared online. In the message, he also urged the setting up of a formal military alliance between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Usmani said that if India tries to attack Bangladesh’s autonomy or if anyone sees Bangladesh with ill intent, "then remember that the people of Pakistan, the Pakistani armed forces and our missiles are not far away".

He also pointed out that Pakistan will not accept what he dubbed as attempts to impose India’s "Akhand Bharat ideology" on Bangladesh.

'An evil eye at Dhaka would invite response'

In another video message, the youth leader underlined that Islamabad would not accept Dhaka being forced into what he dubbed as "India’s ideological dominance”, while warning that even an evil eye at Bangladesh’s autonomy would attract a response.

He laid out a speculative strategic scenario, and spoke of coordinated pressure. As per Usmani, Pakistan will advance from the west, Bangladesh from the east, and China will target Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh.

Usmani didn't stop at that. In another statement, he proposed a formal military arrangement between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He alleged that Bangladesh was being "disturbed” by India’s Border Security Force and alleged that New Delhi was attempting to destabilise the country.

He proposed that Pakistan and Bangladesh should form a military alliance. "Pakistan should set up a military base in Bangladesh and Bangladesh should set up a military base in Pakistan," he said.

Usmani also suggested the cooperation could connect the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Bangladeshi ports, and added that shared use of ports and sea routes would alter the balance of power in the region.
