Kyiv: After days of negotiations, Ukraine and the US have come up with a draft of the revised peace plan to end the former’s ongoing war with Russia. Earlier a 28-point plan, it was later changed to a 20-point draft. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later shared the proposals with the media on Tuesday.

Apart from these, a security guarantee draft between Ukraine, the US and Europe was also developed as also bilateral security agreement between the US and Ukraine. Similarly, another document focuses on economic ties between the two nations. Speaking to reporters, the president said that progreses were made significantly on finalisations of documents.

The US will also share the 20-point draft with Russia. Once Moscow agrees to the draft, the final agreement will be signed between Ukraine, Russia, the US and Europe. The ceasefire will be done after all side comes to agreements and documents are signed.

For the agreement to come into effect, the same will be discussed in the Ukrainian Parliament. Once ratified by the Parliament of Ukraine, the people of the country would have to support the referendum, which may take around two months.

No agreement yet on two major issues

Importantly, Ukraine and the US have not yet come to agreements on two major issues. Among them are control of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and control of the Donbas region.

The 20-point draft

Among the twenty points which have been included in the draft are - The signatories conform that Ukraine is a sovereign state, The document constituting unquestionable non-aggression agreement between two waring countries, Ukraine will receive security guarantees, the size of Ukraine forces to remain at 8,00,000, and that NATO, US and European signatory countries must provide Article 5–like" guarantees to Ukraine.
