The phenomenon is a rare sight that is caused by the clashing of the hot, dry air with the cool breeze of the sea. Netizens took to social media to express their shock. Some initially doubted if it was an AI-generated clip. "Woah! That looks apocalyptic!" wrote one netizen. Another stated, "It’s interesting, because they used to be very common here in Northern Portugal back when my parents were kids (60s-70s) and then they disappeared until yesterday."
