Tarique Rahman Returns to Bangladesh, Vows Safe and Democratic Future
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Dhaka on December 25, 2025, following 17 years in exile. Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Rahman outlined his vision for the nation, centring on the restoration of democratic rights and the establishment of an inclusive society.
Rahman emphasised the collective responsibility to build a country where "every woman, man, and child can leave home and return safely." He highlighted Bangladesh's diverse population, including people from hills and plains, and followers of various religions such as Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, and Hindus, stressing the importance of unity among all communities.
During his address, Rahman also warned against "conspiracies from various hegemonic powers" and urged patience. He assured citizens that he possesses a comprehensive plan for Bangladesh's future, calling for collective effort to achieve a "safe Bangladesh" that meets the aspirations of its people. His return marks a significant moment for the BNP and its supporters.
