Trump Cabinet Meeting Addresses Middle East Peace, Government Shutdown, and Domestic Issues
President Donald Trump recently held a Cabinet meeting, addressing significant foreign policy achievements alongside pressing domestic concerns, even amidst an ongoing government shutdown. A central topic was the Israel-Hamas peace deal, which President Trump described as "incredible," noting the unprecedented cooperation from countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, and Indonesia.
He announced the imminent return of hostages, expected early next week, and projected a future for Gaza rebuilt with international financial assistance.
Domestically, the President criticised the Democratic Party for the government shutdown, accusing them of lacking leadership and obstructing the administrations progress. He reiterated Republican efforts to pass a "clean" bill to reopen government.
Key domestic initiatives highlighted included a focus on significantly reducing drug prices through "favoured nations" clauses and tariffs, aiming for reductions of up to 500%.
Furthermore, the administration detailed its campaign to restore law and order, citing success in Washington D.C. and ongoing operations in Memphis, Chicago, and Portland, deploying federal law enforcement and National Guard units to combat crime and address issues like left-wing domestic terrorism.
