New Delhi: A woman revealed that ChatGPT ruined her vacation by providing her with wrong information relating to the visa requirements. Mery Caldass, a Spanish influencer, claimed that ChatGPT gave her the wrong travel advice. She shared the incident on TikTok.

Caldass told her followers that she was planning a holiday to Puerto Rico. So she asked the chatbot if she, a Spanish citizen, required a visa. In response, the chatbot told the woman that she did not require a visa. However, she found that she needed an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation). On reaching the airport, she was devastated to learn she wouldn't be able to travel.

In the video shared online, Caldass was seen being consoled by her boyfriend Alejandro Cid. At one point, the woman joked that she used to make fun of ChatGPT, and it had taken revenge on her.

“I don’t trust that one anymore because sometimes I insult him. I call him a bastard, you’re useless, but inform me well … that’s his revenge," said the influencer.

The clip garnered mixed reactions. Some were stunned to know that the woman did not cross-check the information. They rebuked her and even mocked her. Others questioned why people were choosing to trust AI bots over search engines.

"Actually many people especially Europeans think they are smart and go for all easy methods. And then blame Chat GPT for it. AI can be used for many purpose but not to be used instead of Google," said one.

Another commented, " Illiterates! Blaming tech for not knowing how to use it, search latest info as easy as that."

“If you are going to take a transoceanic trip and you put all your advice in ChatGPT, little has happened to you," said one. Another viewer  commented, "But who trusts ChatGPT for those types of situations?”
