New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been updated with six airbags as standard, with the prices ranging between Rs 7.59 lakh and Rs 12.95 lakh (ex-showroom). U til now, the top three trims of the Fronx, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha came with the six airbags, but now even the base model Sigma and Delta trims will feature six airbags.

Fronx joins the latest of the other Maruti models, including the Ertiga, Baleno and XL6, that will be offered with six airbags as standard. With this, the Frox gets a consistent price hike of Rs 4000 with the exception of the Delta+ petrol variants. Other standard safety features include ESP with hill hold, 3-point seatbelts with reminder for every passenger and ISOFIX anchorages as well. The reverse parking camera, though, is only offered from the second-from-top Zeta trim.

The Fronx comes with two engine choices: a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 90 bhp and delivers a torque of 113 Nm and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol that produces 100 bhp and has 147 Nm of torque. A five-speed gearbox comes as standard, with the naturally aspirated petrol engine also getting an AMT option. The turbo-petrol gets a torque converter automatic option as well. The base variants, Sigma and Delta trim, come with a CNG kit as well.

Maruti's latest safety upgrades

Back in April, Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhagrava had mentioned that by the end of this year, they will offer six airbags as standard in every car. In the Nexa line, only the Ignis hasn’t gotten the safety update, while in Arena, the S-Presso is yet to get six airbags as standard. However, an upgrade does look to be around the corner for both of these models, with safety becoming a big priority for Maruti Suzuki.
