Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, an actress who works in Kannada serials was allegedly kidnapped by her estranged husband in a bid to get the custody of their one-year-old daughter. The couple was married in 2023. As per the complaint filed at the police station, the actress Chaitra R and her husband Harshvardhan were separated nearly seven to eight months back due to marital disputes.
A serial and film actress has allegedly been kidnapped by her estranged husband in a bid to get custody of their daughter in Karnataka's Bengaluru. While Harshvardhan was staying in Hassan, Chaitra moved to a rented accommodation on the Magadi Road with their daughter. After the separation, Chaitra continued to work.
On December 7, Chaitra told her family that she was going to Mysuru for a shooting. It allegedly turned out to be part of Harshvardhan’s plan. The complaint said that he reportedly paid Rs 20,000 as an advance to one of his associates, Kaushik.
The later, with the help of another person, reportedly called Chaitra to the Mysuru Road Metro Station around 8 am. After the actress reached the spot, she was forcibly taken in a car. Chaitra, however, managed to inform her friend Girish, who immediately informed her family.
Same evening, Harshvardhan called up Chaitra’s mother and admitted to kidnapping her daughter. He, however, asked her to bring the child to a location specified by him. He then called another relative, asking to bring the child. He further assured that Chaitra would be released safely. Chaitra’s family was earlier scattered in Bengaluru and Titur, regrouped, and filed a case in the police station. Reacting to the incident, the police said that the probe is underway in the matter.
