Bengaluru man dies of electrocution while rescuing pet macaw

A 32-year-old man from Bengaluru's Girinagar area died of electrocution while attempting to rescue his pet macaw after it landed on a nearby electric pole. The incident occurred when a steel pipe he was using came in contact with a live high-voltage wire, police said.

New Delhi: A 32-year-old man from Bengaluru’s Girinagar area died of electrocution while attempting to rescue his pet macaw. The man, identified as Arun Kumar, accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage line and was electrocuted.

On Friday, his pet macaw, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, fled the house and landed on a nearby electric pole the next morning.

To rescue his beloved pet, Kumar climbed onto the compound wall to bring back the macaw. During the process, the steel pipe he was using came in contact with a live high-voltage wire, resulting in a severe electric shock. Kumar fell from the wall and suffered serious injuries.

The shock proved fatal for Arun. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Following this, the police registered a case of unnatural death.

In a similar case of electrocution, a 23-year-old woman was killed while heating water with an electric rod at her house in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur. Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had gone to take a shower and was using an electric rod to heat water. When she did not come out of the bathroom for a long time, her friend, who resides in the same building, went to check on her and found the door bolted from inside. She then called the police, a police officer told news agency PTI.

In another incident in July, a 34-year-old woman was wading through a waterlogged street in Yamuna Vihar when she collapsed. A live wire that had fallen on the ground electrocuted her to death.
