New Delhi: Residents of Delhi who missed their earlier opportunity in September to settle long-pending traffic challans now have a final window to do so this year. Authorities have announced the next date for the capital’s Lok Adalat, offering vehicle owners the chance to clear eligible challans at significantly reduced amounts.
The December sitting will be the fourth and last Lok Adalat scheduled for 2025, making it an important opportunity for those hoping to settle dues before the end of the year. According to officials, four Lok Adalats were planned for 2025.
Three have already been conducted on March 8, May 10 and September 13. The fourth and final round is set for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Those who fail to make use of this date may have to wait until 2026, as the schedule for next year has not yet been announced.
However, authorities have clarified that not every type of traffic challan can be settled in the Lok Adalat. There is a common misconception that all pending fines are eligible, but this is not the case. Challans arising from criminal offences or road accidents are strictly excluded from the Lok Adalat process. Instead, the sessions are designed to resolve minor traffic violations such as driving without a seat belt, jumping a red light, stopping on a zebra crossing, parking violations and riding without a helmet.
Ahead of the December 13 sitting, motorists will need to complete an essential step; securing a token. Without this token, entry to the Lok Adalat and the settlement of challans will not be permitted. Tokens are issued online via the Delhi Traffic Police’s official website and are released a few days before the Lok Adalat convenes.
Based on previous patterns this year, tokens for the December session are expected to become available around December 6–7, though officials have not yet confirmed these dates. Motorists are advised to keep a close watch for updates to avoid missing the narrow window for obtaining a token.
