GHMC launches sanitation drive across 300 wards in Hyderabad
The initiative aims at removal of long-pending legacy waste, elimination of sanitation gaps, and improvement of overall hygiene standards across all wards.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched a special sanitation drive across 300 wards of the city following the recent delimitation.
The initiative aims at removal of long-pending legacy waste, elimination of sanitation gaps, and improvement of overall hygiene standards across all wards, with a strong focus on visible and measurable outcomes at the ground level. Officials have been directed to effectively implement the special sanitation drive at the field level, ensuring coordinated action and strict supervision.
Drive being monitored on field level:
As per an official release from the civic body, the drive is being closely monitored by Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, who are conducting on-ground inspections across their respective jurisdictions to ensure timely execution and 100% coverage.
Emphasis has been laid on inter-departmental coordination, efficient deployment of manpower and machinery, and sustained monitoring to achieve comprehensive sanitation improvements.
As a part of the drive, following focused efforts are being undertaken:
Removal of legacy waste and clearance of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs)
Cleaning of roads, footpaths, parks, lakes, and nalas
Removal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste Improvement of sanitation and aesthetics around public spaces.
Promoting citizen participation for sustained behavioural change.
Transformation of cleanliness landscape:
The GHMC in its press release said that through this intensive, field-level sanitation initiative, GHMC aims to bring about a visible transformation in Hyderabad’s cleanliness landscape and move decisively towards a cleaner, liveable, and sustainable city.
