New Year 2026: Hyderabad Metro extends timing for NY celebrations

While the last metro train usually runs till 11 PM, officials stated that on Wednesday, trains will depart from the originating stations at 1 AM.

Hyderabad:  L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced that the metro rail services will be extended on December 31 for New Year celebrations. The last train will depart from all terminal stations at 1 AM on January 1.

While the last metro train usually runs until 11 PM, officials stated that on Wednesday, trains will depart from the originating stations at 1 AM. They added that there will be increased surveillance by staff and police in metro trains and stations. Passengers have been advised to behave responsibly.

Meanwhile, Telangana government has set a deadline for March 2026 to takeover Hyderabad Metro Rail from L&T, reports said.

Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao directed officials to make the process of transfer as smoothly as possible, in line with the agreement reached by between both parties.

In September this year, the state government has decided to takeover Hyderabad metro phase-1 project from L&T, paving the way for to execute phase-2 faster. The state will absorb a debt of nearly Rs 13,000 crore of L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) and will make a one-time payment of Rs 2,000 crore towards its equity investment.
