Teen dies after botched piles surgery at a private clinic in Hyderabad
The accused Sahil and his wife are absconding and are booked under section 106 of the BNS.
Hyderabad: A 17-year-old teenager died after a botched piles surgery at a private clinic in Hayathnagar area of the city on Saturday, tv9 telugu reported.
The teenager was operated on by an unqualified quack named Sahil, who was assisted by his wife at a clinic privately owned by them.
Sahil and his wife are absconding and the police registered a case against them under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.
Student dies due to massive blood loss:
The victim, who was a second-year intermediate student, was taken to Saida Piles clinic on November 11. Sahil and his wife advised the student to undergo surgery. The boy and his family stayed at the clinic overnight for the procedure, according to reports. They returned home the following day and was asked to come back if there were any complications.
The very next day, the boy experienced heavy bleeding and had to be rushed back to the clinic.
Since that day, the boy had to be taken every morning for more treatment till November 21. He developed a fever and was advised by the clinic to be shifted to Sri Multi Specialty Hospital, Chaitanyapuri, the police said.
He had to be shifted twice to other hospitals and on November 22, doctors at LB Nagar hospital advised his parents to shift him to another bigger facility.
"The family took him to NIMS hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Doctors there said that he died due to excessive bleeding and other complications.
His wounds were left open after the first surgery in Hayathnagar and the boy suffered from heavy blood loss and went into shock due to the blood loss,” Hayathnagar Police said.
TGMC takes suo motu action:
Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Monday said that they would take suo motu cognizance of the case. The TGMC further stated that another case will be filed against the accused under sections of NMC and Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration Act (TPMR) and sections 318, 319 of the BNS.
TGMC vice-chairman G Srinivas Rao stated that they will send a vigilance team to the location. "Piles surgery must be done only by a qualified general surgeon. Unqualified practitioners pose a serious public health threat,” he said.
