Mumbai: Aishwarya Rai's message against street harassment resonated with her followers. The actress, as part of L'Oreal Paris’ Stand Up training program, addressed the issue and asked women to choose an approach contrary to the archaic way of avoiding eye contact.
In the video shared on Instagram, the actress asked women to unsubscribe from the old ways and urged them to counter street harassment with their heads held high. "Avoid eye contact No. Look the problem directly in the eyes. Hold your head high. Feminine and feminist, my body, my worth. Never compromise your worth. Do not doubt yourself. Stand up for your worth. Don't blame your dress or your lipstick. Street harassment is never your fault,” said the actress. The video quickly went viral. Many social media users and fans of the stunning actress took to the comments section.
One wrote, "A powerful reminder and important message for young girls and women everywhere.” They thanked the actress for empowering and encouraging women with the message. "Street harassment is really common in the world." An individual commented, "Always Queen vibes from this Diva." Another commented, “Well said… She is always so pretty.”
The beauty queen was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s historic drama Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2. The film was a huge success and received positive feedback worldwide. Apart from Aishwarya, the film featured Vikram, Ravi Mohan (as the title character), Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban.
Aishwarya's performance in the movie won her the "Best Actress in a Leading Role (Critics) award at the South Indian International Movie Awards. Though she has not acted in any film since that 2023 project, she is spotted in other public events.
She is married to Abhishek Bachchan, and the duo shares a daughter, Aaradhya.
