Mumbai: Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa's film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat recorded a decent opening on day 1 at the box office. The movie that hit the big screen on October 21 clashed with the release of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's Thamma

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat garnered mixed responses from the public. While the actors and the plot impressed cine lovers, they were quite disappointed with the screenplay and storyline. As per reports, the movie faced some difficulties in the beginning, as Thamma was allegedly given more screens. According to Sacnilk, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat made Rs 8.50 crore on day 1. Considering the movie does not have big names, experts opined that the day 1 collection was commendable.

However, the collection is expected to rise in the following days, considering the Bhai Dooj festivities and the upcoming weekend. Trade expert Sumit Kadel commented that the first day collection of the movie shows it's a hit.“The film is holding superbly well today (Wednesday) and could well emerge as a Super Hit by the end of its run," said Kadel.

Meanwhile, the recorded earnings of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are lower than Thamma. Though the Maddock horror-comedy movie also received mixed comments, it managed to rake in Rs 24 crore on the first day, about three times more than Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.

The movie, directed by Milap Zaveri, features Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, apart from the leads. The promotions for the film were unique. Harshvardhan Rane was seen pasting stickers and bills across Mumbai, calling in cine lovers to give the movie a chance. He was also seen selling tickets in theatres.
