Mumbai: Ankit Sagar, who played the role of Javed Khanani in the movie Dhurandhar, in an exclusive interview with TV9, spoke of his experience working with Akshaye Khanna. Ankit referred to him as a 'one-take' actor.
"Akshaye remains in his character. Sometimes it's important to ignore the chaos happening around you on a set. He's a one-take actor. He'd occasionally ask for multiple takes if he's not satisfied," said the actor.
Speaking about Akshaye at the set of the Aditya Dhar movie, Ankit stated, "Every actor has his process. We don't want a lot of movement or disturbance before filming a shot. If you miss the beats, then it becomes an issue. Akshaye Khanna remains in such moments/silences before doing a take. There used to be no rehearsals with him before filming a scene. We usually do the lines (rehearsing dialogue) before a take."
He added, "But sometimes it's fun with some actors who don't rehearse right before the take. They go directly for the take. An actor should be prepared for that method as well. Some actors might get scared by that process. Acting is all about action and reaction. Sometimes you find something good in rehearsals too because you how how you and other actors are going to approach a scene."
He also addressed claims of Dhuandhar being a propaganda movie. "Initially, I heard some people say that it's a propaganda film. It might be a propaganda film for them. India is a free country and everyone can say what they feel. Those who didn't think it was a propaganda film they came out in vocal support for the film. The murmurs were going on since the beginning of the film. I don't know why some people think that it's a propaganda. I want to ask them what's the propaganda?" asked Ankit.
He also added, "There were different political parties in power in the central government when the Kandahar hijack happened and when the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks happened. Who do you have an objection against? Everyone will give their justification? It would have been propaganda if the film had shown events which we didn't know about. All the acts of terrorism have happened in reality."
Ankit also revealed that he got the part due to his resemblance to the character he was cast for. He also stated that he had to put on weight to look the character.
