Farah Khan cook Dilip Mukhiya: The extraordinary rise of Dilip Mukhiya, once a teenager from a small village in Bihar with only Rs 250 in his pocket, has captured the attention of audiences across the country. His journey from Madhubani district’s Mallah Tola to the bustling lanes of Mumbai reads like a cinematic script.
Today, more than two decades later, Dilip isn’t just known in his village; he’s recognised nationwide as Farah Khan’s beloved cook and a social-media sensation.
Dilip arrived in Mumbai at the age of 16, hoping to build a better life like countless others who leave Bihar each year in search of opportunity. He often says that “hard work runs in the veins of every Bihari,” and that principle has guided every step of his journey. Though he began with ordinary chores in Farah Khan’s home, his genuine charm and unfiltered humour soon made him a familiar face in her videos.
What followed was completely unexpected. Celebrities began recognising him, posing with him, and even showering him with affectionate nicknames. Actor Shruti Haasan calls him the “real star.” In a heartwarming moment, when Dilip once addressed Jackie Shroff as “Biru,” the actor lovingly corrected him, saying it’s pronounced “Beedu.” Rajasthan’s royal families greet him enthusiastically, and Farah herself jokes that his popularity is now giving celebrity influencer Orry tough competition.
Dilip’s internet stardom soon translated into real advertising opportunities. Over the past year, he has been featured in campaigns for Myntra, Amazon, Urban Company, Flipkart, as well as skincare labels, household appliances and organic food brands. One of his biggest moments came when he appeared in a commercial with Shah Rukh Khan, a milestone that cemented his arrival in mainstream pop culture.
He even walked the stage at YouTube FanFest, drawing loud cheers from fans who recognised him instantly from Farah’s videos.
Farah Khan, who recently launched her YouTube channel, frequently features Dilip in her videos, turning him into an integral part of her digital content. But her contribution goes far beyond the camera. She helped him build a home in his village and ensured his children were enrolled in a good school, giving his family the stability he once only dreamed of.
