'It’s always annoying': Hailey Bieber breaks silence on constant comparisons with Selena Gomez

Mumbai: Hailey Bieber finally addressed the constant comparisons with her husband, Justin Bieber's ex, Selena Gomez. She claimed it is annoying to be pitted against other people, without being asked for it. 

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, the Rhode founder revealed that she did not feel the need to compete with other beauty brands, as there is space for everyone to exist. "I think there is space for everybody. I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by,” said Hailey. ELLE reported that Hailey's publicist shut the interviewer down when they tried to ask about Selena Gomez and her brand Rare Beauty.

However, Hailey claimed that the comparisons were extremely "annoying". "It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they've made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that,” said the mother of one. 

She also claimed that nothing, including the acquisition of her brand by e.l.f. Beauty for $1 billion, has managed to shut down the comparisons.

The model also talked about her relationship with Justin Bieber, revealing that they were trying to find their voice. She also talked about her life as a mother. Hailey stated that she was very protective of their son, Jack Blues, and has decided not to reveal his face to the public until he is old enough. 

Meanwhile, Hailey has talked about the comparisons in an interview with Bloomberg Originals’ The Circuit With Emily Chang in June 2023. She stated that her comparisons with Selena as "disgusting" and "vile". She also added that the narratives come from  “twisted and perpetuated narratives.”

Hailey tied the knot with Justin in front of their dear ones in 2019. In recent years, there have been several rumours about their relationship.
