Hrithik Roshan praises Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has joined the long list of Bollywood names reacting to Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, offering both admiration for its craft and a pointed reflection on its political undertones. The espionage drama was released in theatres on December 5.

And it has notably been at the centre of conversation for its intense storytelling and its depiction of India’s fight against terror operations in Pakistan during the late 2000s.

Ranveer Singh leads the film as Hamza, an undercover Indian operative attempting to infiltrate the feared gang of Rehman Dakait. The narrative, inspired by real events but presented in a fictionalised manner, blends high-stakes intelligence manoeuvres with crime, betrayal and covert missions.

Hrithik Roshan raises concerns over Dhurandhar’s political tone

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Hrithik wrote, “I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want is purged out of them onto the screen. Dhurandhar is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema.”

However, he also added a layered critique, saying, “I may disagree with the politics of it and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can’t ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”

His response echoes the larger discussion around the film, which has drawn praise for its performances and technical precision while also attracting debate for its political leaning.

Akshay Kumar and Smriti Irani review Dhurandhar

Earlier in the day, Akshay Kumar also endorsed the film, writing, “Watched Dhurandhar and I’m blown away. What a gripping tale and you’ve simply nailed it @AdityaDharFilms. We need our stories to be told in a hard-hitting way, and I’m so glad the audiences are giving the film all the love it deserves.”

Smriti Irani, actor-turned-politician, offered a deeply personal take, reflecting on how the film mirrors real experiences of conflict and loss. She wrote, “If you have looked into the eyes of the wife of a fallen soldier… nothing in Dhurandhar should lead you to outrage—after all, it’s just a film.”

Calling it “the echo of lives lived and lost,” she also praised R. Madhavan’s portrayal of a character inspired by Ajit Doval, noting that “no better actor could so calmly hold a storm within.”
