Producer Naga Vamsi to receive Rs 22 crore from YRF after War 2 debacle?

New Delhi: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s action thriller film, War 2, could not perform at the box office, as expected and faced a major setback, particularly in the Telugu states. Now, if reports are to be believed, the production house of the film, Yash Raj Films, stepped in with a compensation package for producer Naga Vamsi and his partners after they incurred heavy losses.

Made on a massive budget of Rs 450 crore, the film has reportedly suffered a staggering loss of Rs 60 to Rs 70 crore. However, around Rs 150 crore has been recovered from the sale of digital, satellite and music rights.

According to a Great Andhra report, the Telugu version of the film was reportedly acquired by Naga Vamsi and his partners for staggering Rs 80 crore and they have incurred heavy loses due to film not performing well at the box office, especially in Telugu states. According to report, Yash Raj Films is said to be returning Rs 22 crore through structured settlements across key regions to Vamsi Naga. The structured settlements include Rs 10 crore for Nizam, Rs 7 crore for Andhra, and Rs 5 crore Ceded. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

The report also states that Naga Vamsi was initially confident about earning Rs 100 crore from Telugu states but negative reviews and online trolling impacted the film’s performance. Additionally, Rajinikanth’s Coolie’s record-breaking performance further dented War 2’s performance at the ticket window.

In another report by Subhash K Jha, it is claimed that Aditya Chopra has stepped in to save Alia Bhatt-starrer Alpha after War 2 debacle.

According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s Telugu version earned Rs 20 crore gross in six days. The film’s total domestic collection is approximately Rs 199 crore. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the latest instalment in YRF Spy Universe, starring Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and Jr NTR.
