R Madhavan opens up about Dhurandhar 2; drops interesting details

Mumbai: Dhurandhar, released on December 5, 2025, is running successfully at the box office. And fans are already looking forward to the film's sequel. In a recent interview, R Madhavan hinted at Dhurandhar 2 and the evolution of his character, Ajay Sanyal, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, in the movie. 

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actor praised director Aditya Dhar, the mastermind behind the Ranveer Singh movie. He stated, "Aditya Dhar is a monk. Through all the chaos of making a film so dense and intense, he would sit there for the anxieties to settle down. What a fine human being! After working with Aditya in Dhurandhar, I want to work with him again and again.”

Maddy further talked about the development of his character in the sequel.

"My screen presence is limited in the first part. But in the second part, which will release in March, there is a lot of my character as he trains Ranveer’s character in the skills of espionage warfare," said the actor. 

The actor then reflected on his year and claimed that it had been a phenomenal one. He enumerated the wonderful opportunities he got this year. "I started the year with Hisaab Barabar. I am ending the year with Dhurandhar, which is one of the most important films of my career. I’ve had the privilege of working with the best directors in the most creative and productive phase of their career: Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aanand L Rai, and now Aditya Dhar. I couldn’t have asked for more," said Maddy. 

The film grossed over Rs 130 crore. It is expected to keep up with the momentum. The movie explores the journey of undercover agent Hamza, played by Ranveer, as he infiltrates a terror network based in Pakistan. 

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 will hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
