'Meri side se thi': Salman Khan addresses rift with Arijit Singh in Bigg Boss 19

Bigg Boss host Salman Khan opened up about his rift with Arijit Singh in the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode that featured comedian Ravi Gupta. He claimed it was a misunderstanding from his part.

Mumbai: Salman Khan opened up about his rift with Arijit Singh in the recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19. He shared it was a just a misunderstanding from his side. The candid confession stunned audience online and offline. 

The Bollywood super star shared his thought relating to the matter when comedian Ravi Gupta appeared as a special guest on the show. During his playful banter with the actor, Gupta cheekily stated that he was nervous to meet Salman. Stunned by his statement, Salman asked him why. It was then that Gupta quipped, "Because I look like Arijit Singh."

The shocking response left Salman as well as the audience in splits. However, the actor handled it gracefully. He addressed the rift he once had with Arijit Singh and admitted that it was a result of his misunderstanding. 

“Arijit aur main bahut acche dost hai. Jo misunderstanding thi, meri side se thi. Uske baad usne gaane bhi kiye mere liye. Tiger me kiya tha, ab Galwan me kar raha hai. (Arijit and I are very good friends. The misunderstanding that happened was on my side. After that, he even sang songs for me. He sang in Tiger, and now he’s singing in Galwan," said the actor. 

What happened between Salman Khan and Arijit Singh?

For the unversed, the rift between the singer and the actor dates back to 2014 during an award show. Arijit appeared in a casual outfit wearing slippers. Salman teased him for his fit and asked him if he had been asleep. "You guys put me to sleep," responded the singer. The statement did not sit well with the actor. 

The incident was followed by a public apology by Arijit Singh on social media in 2016. In the post, he requested he requested Salman to retain his version of a song in the movie "Sultan". 

Finally, the duo rekindled their relationship in 2023 when Arijit sang for Tiger 3.
