"I always missed S. D. Burman, sir. Then, of course, I like R. D. Burman, and Rahman is also good. And I even like Himesh Reshammiya as well. I’ve worked on four or five songs with Himesh Reshammiya bhaiya, and he was very good to work with,” Zubeen told Lehren.

Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025, and early reports suggested a swimming accident. However, conflicting accounts soon emerged. His bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami claimed the singer had aspirated water and displayed signs of poisoning, including frothing at the mouth and difficulty breathing.
With public concern rising, the Assam government ordered a formal probe. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged restraint, saying clarity would come only after viscera tests and supporting evidence. A high-level inquiry commission headed by a sitting High Court judge was formed, and the investigation has intensified with at least four detentions. Charges have now escalated from negligence to murder.
