A freak accident in Australia's Sydney claimed the life of an Indian-origin pregnant woman and her unborn child. The 33-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a car in the suburb of Hornsby on Nov 14. The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Samanvitha Dhareshwar.

Samanvitha was walking with her husband and son when she was hit by a car. Authorities confirmed that she was just weeks away from welcoming her second child.

As per the police, a Kia car slowed down to let Dhareshwar and her family walk near the entrance of a parking garage. As the Kia car slowed down, a speeding BMW rammed into it from behind. Impact from the speeding BMW pushed the Kia car forward, hitting 8-month-pregnant Dhareshwar as she crossed the car.

A case was filed, and authorities soon nabbed the 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, the BMW driver, from his Wahroonga home.
