Bengaluru, India – In a significant development regarding the Bengaluru RCB stampede tragedy, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has concluded its probe and is prepared to file a comprehensive 2,200-page charge sheet. This extensive document directly holds Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and event management firm DNA accountable for the deaths of 11 individuals.
The Karnataka High Court has granted approval for the filing of this charge sheet, with the CID asserting that the evidence gathered is overwhelming. Investigators built their case on hundreds of eyewitness statements, CCTV footage, injury reports, and accounts from rescue teams present at the stadium gate.
Key findings from the investigation reveal severe lapses, including the event being organised without proper planning, the absence of a mandatory pre-event coordination meeting, and a distinct lack of communication with police authorities.
Furthermore, ticket chaos, fake social media posts, and online rumours contributed to a deadly crowd surge. Both the event management firm and private security agencies failed to adequately implement security plans or control the escalating situation. With the charge sheet now ready, the focus shifts to accountability and the ensuing legal actions in one of Bengalurus most tragic crowd disasters.
