Delhi blast: NIA raids 8 locations in Kashmir to tear apart 'white-collar' terror module

The NIA conducted extensive raids at 8 locations across Kashmir in connection with the Delhi blast, targeting a 'white-collar' terror module. These operations led to the arrest of seven accused, including individuals providing logistical support and procuring weapons.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency on Monday raided 8 locations in Kashmir in connection with the Delhi blast, according to sources.

The NIA is believed to have conducted raids at 8 locations, including the houses of Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Dr Muzammil, Dr Abdeel, Amir Rashid and Jasir Bilal. The agency is raiding Nadigam village of Shopian, Chandgam, Koil, Samboora, and Malangpora villages of Pulwama, Wanpora in Qazigund, Anantnag.

Raids in connection with the Delhi blast

As per the sources, the NIA teams "are searching for evidence that could be linked to the ‘white-collar’ module and the Delhi blast." So far, the NIA has arrested seven accused related to the Delhi blast that took place on November 10 near the Red Fort metro station, which killed at least 15 people and injured several others.

Recently, the NIA arrested a man from Faridabad for allegedly harbouring terrorist Umar un Nabi, who was involved in the Delhi blast. He has been identified as Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Haryana's Faridabad. He is the seventh accused to be arrested in the case.

The NIA said that Soyab provided logistical support to terrorist Umar before the November 10 bomb blast in the national capital. He was a ward boy at Al Falah University, where Umar was working as a doctor. The car bomb killed 13 people and left several others injured.

According to investigators, Muzammil procured a Russian assault rifle worth Rs 5 lakh, which was recovered from a locker of a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir. The locker from where the weapon was recovered belonged to Dr Abdeel. He bought the weapon from a person known to Dr Shaheen, as police recovered the weapon and later found 2,900 kilograms of explosives from different locations in Faridabad.
