New Delhi: Gangster Inderpreet Pary, once considered close to Lawrence Bishnoi, was shot dead in Sector-26 of Chandiagrh on Monday evening in what police suspect is a gangwar-linked killing.
According to officials, the attackers arrived in a KIA car, fired multiple rounds at Pary, and escaped before police reached the spot. He was hit by five bullets. A resident of Sector-33, Pary was a college friend of Lawrence Bishnoi and the two were earlier associated with student group SOPU. Police said several criminal cases were registered against him in Chandigarh.
Hours after the killing, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post. In the post, gang members Arzu Bishnoi and Hari Boxer — along with Shubham Lonkar and Harman Sandhu — alleged that Pary had become a “traitor” to their group and was extorting money from clubs by using the names of rival gangsters Goldy and Rohit.
The post further claimed that the conflict began earlier when an attempt was made on the life of gang member Hari, followed by the killing of another associate, Sippa. Issuing threats, the gang warned that anyone supporting Pary or his associates would be targeted.
The group also threatened club owners, saying they would “reach anyone, even inside jails,” and kill those linked to their rivals. Police have launched a search to identify and trace the attackers and are examining CCTV footage from the area.
