West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has issued a stern warning against what he described as a deliberate "misinformation campaign" concerning the SIR process in the state. Speaking from Hakimpur, Governor Bose asserted that certain political forces are actively trying to misguide citizens and provoke fear, thereby weakening national interest and polarising communities.

He stressed that the SIR is an essential process for ensuring free and fair elections. The Governor also addressed claims made by a Trinamool Congress MP, implicitly referring to Kalyan Banerjee, regarding arms and ammunition being stored inside the Raj Bhavan.

Governor Bose stated that an official inquiry, involving sniffer dogs, bomb squads, and both state and central police, thoroughly disproved these "baseless and sensational claims." He labelled these allegations a "lie bomb" intended to mislead the public.

Concluding his address, Governor Bose reiterated that any attempts to create obstacles in the implementation of the SIR or to derail democratic processes would not be tolerated. He warned that strong and decisive action would be taken against individuals or groups found trying to fool the people or incite dissension and rebellion in society, underscoring the strength of the Indian Constitution and recent Supreme Court judgements on gubernatorial powers.
