New Delhi: In a shocking incident reported from Gurugram, an 8-year-old child was mowed down by a car. A minor was behind the wheels, said police. The child was dragged for around 20 metres, before the vehicle came to a halt. People caught the driver and thrashed him badly, before handing him over to the police.
According to a report in NDTV, the minor boy, identified as Yuhan, was standing outside a doctor's clinic, when the speeding car hit him. The boy's father Ashwani Kumar was unhurt in the incident. The accident happened at 7 pm on Friday. The boy is a resident of Krishan Kunj, Bhondsi, said the police officials.
The boy's father in his complaint said that the driver was overspeeding and hit his son with a lot of force. He added that his son was dragged for several metres before the driver applied brakes to stop the vehicle.
Kumar, along with some others, rushed the child to hospital. However doctors declared him dead.
The minor car driver who was also injured in the accident, also received treatment at the same hospital. The police have seized the car and investigations are on in the matter. The police are searching for the owner of the vehicle in whose name it was registered.
The body of the child was handed over to the family after a post mortem on Saturday.
A similar incident was reported from Greater Noida a day earlier. Here a school boy who was seen running to catch up with his sister, was run over by a cab within the society premises itself. The incident happened at the Ajnara Homes residential society in Greater Noida West.
The incident was captured on CCT. The boy was seen running towards the school gate, when suddenly he trips and falls down. Before he could get up, a cab coming from behind hit him. The child was injured and moved to a hospital immediately. Police said that investigations are on in the case.
