Indian Army creates special force ‘Bhairav’ | How will it tackle modern warfare challenges
The army plans to raise 25 such battalions in the coming days. These forces have been formed to bridge the gap between Para Special Forces and regular Infantry battalions.
New Delhi: To strengthen its capabilities in modern warfare challenges, the Indian Army created a pool of more than one lakh drone operatives. A special Force, Bhairav, was created with over one lakh drone operatives. The step has been taken to counter contemporary warfare.
Why the special force been formed?
Under the system, drones are handled by operatives and can be utilised at the time of targeting enemy territories. It has been designed for a dedicated force with an aim to carry out special tasks at various levels as and when needed.
According to CNBC TV 18, the army plans to raise 25 such battalions in the coming days. These forces have been formed to bridge the gap between Para Special Forces and regular Infantry battalions. The force has been formed as part of the army’s restructuring efforts.
‘Modern warfare is changing at a very rapid pace’
"Modern warfare is changing at a very rapid pace. The conflicts of today are hybrid in nature, and one needs to be fully equipped with modern technology to be able to deal with the Challenges. The Bhairav battalions have also been created as part of the force restructuring, which have been raised in line with the requirements of modern technology, new thought process, and as per the new operational requirements," an officer said while speaking with ANI.
Majority of the troops from Rajasthan
He added, "The desert Bhairav Battalion has been raised on the concept of 'Sons of the Soil' as the majority of the troops are from Rajasthan, who can understand the terrain, language, weather, and the area. The battalion has been built upon the legacy of the valour and gallantry of Rajasthan, and that is our biggest strength. We are ready to meet any challenge in the desert sector.”
