Uttar Pradesh: Teenager kidnapped and gangraped by YouTuber, cop in Kanpur; 1 held

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in Kanpur. The accused in the case are a popular YouTuber and a Sub Inspector of police. While the police have arrested the YouTuber, identified as Shivbaran Yadav , the Sub Inspector is absconding. Four teams have been formed to nab the absconding official, Amit Kumar Maurya.

New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped in an SUV, taken to a secluded place and gangraped. The girl was reportedly raped by a popular YouTuber and a policeman, who is currently serving as a Sub Inspector. The incident happened earlier this week, reported India Today.

YouTuber arrested, cop on the run

The 14-year-old girl in her complaint to the police said that she was picked up in a Scorpio car at around 10 pm. She was then taken to a secluded spot near a railway track in the city. There, the 2, Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Maurya and local YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav allegedly raped her.

The girl alleged in the FIR that the sexual assault continued for nearly 2 hours, after which she said that she lost consciousness. The two then dropped the girl outside her home.

Following the complaint, the police managed to nab the YouTuber. The vehicle used in the crime, which belongs to the Sub Inspector, Maurya has also been seized. The Sub Inspector is currently on the run and 4 teams have been formed to search for him.

Maurya is currently posted at the Bithoor Police Station. But investigations revealed that he was present in Sachendi at the time of the rape.

Survivor's family accuses police of trying to hush up matter

Meanwhile the survivor's family has made some serious allegations against the police. Her brother alleged that the local police refused to register a complaint, when they initially approached them and said that a Sub Inspector was involved in the matter. He also said that his sister was kept at the police station for a very long time and was told that she could not return home until her statement was recorded in court.

The brother further said that the mobile phone of the survivor was seized and she was not allowed to speak to any of her family members till the time she was in the police station.

Soon after the incident created outrage in the region. Action was prompt and immediate. Police Commissioner, Raghubir Lal ordered the removal of Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi and suspended Sachendi SHO Vikram Singh for failing to apply the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the outset and allegedly misrepresenting facts in case records. The charge of the police station has been given to Deenanath Mishra. Additional DCP (West) Kapil Dev Singh, has been handed over the case, said the Commissioner.

Lal was quoted as saying, "The investigation is being conducted with complete transparency, and strict action will be taken against all guilty parties."
