New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, a nine-year-old student at a private school has been allegedly beaten with a PVC pipe as the school owner watched without trying to stop the perpetrator. The child's mother has accused the school's management of perpetrating the crime.
30-year-old Divya Shankar, a resident of Hoysalanagar, has filed a police complaint alleging that her son, Nayan Gowda C S, a student of class 5 at St. Mary’s Public School, was beaten there on October 14.
She has accused that her son was beaten with a plastic PVC pipe by the school principal, Rakesh Kumar. As a result, the student was injured and bleeding, and a teacher named Chandrika allegedly held him down when the child tried to flee, with the principal continuing the assault.
According to the complaint, school owner Vijayakumar was at the spot when the child became the victim of the shameful incident, but he chose not to intervene. He allegedly looked on as the principal continued the assault. The ordeal left him physically injured and mentally traumatised.
Divya confronted the school authorities, who warned her not to “ask too many questions" and threatened to retaliate if she did not do so. She alleged that the management even told her to take her son out of the school.
She has demanded that strict action be meted out to the principal, the teacher, and the school owner, and requested police protection for her family. The police have registered a case and are probing the incident, including the analysis of CCTV footage from the school.
