Kerala: 23-year-old stabbed to death following dispute over rented bike; Ex-councillor, son held

Kottayam: In a shocking incident, a youth in his early 20’s was stabbed to death at Manikunnam in Kottayam in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased identified as Adarsh (23), a native of Puthupally's Manganam.
Police have taken former Kottayam municipal councillor Anil Kumar and his son Abhijith into custody in connection with the murder.
"Both Abhijith and Adarsh had serious issues over renting a bike few months back and there was verbal tussle that was reported”, said an official at the Kottayam police station.

Police said the father and son then tried to dump the body in a nearby pond, but were caught after locals noticed their attempt. Both Adarsh and Abhijith were reportedly booked earlier in drug cases.
Police will record the arrests after the inquest and interrogation. The body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem at the Government Medical College Hospital.
Police is investigating whether there was any other issues that led to the attack. Police has decided to question the family members of Adarsh today and also collected the CCTV footages of his house for more details.
