Gunmen attack Pakistan paramilitary headquarters in Peshawar, 3 killed

Peshawar: Gunmen attacked Pakistan’s paramilitary force headquarters in Peshawar on Monday morning, killing at least three people. All three were Federal Constabulary personnel who were deployed at the gate.

As per reports published by the news agency Reuters, at least four people were injured in the incident. Sharing further details, Peshawar police chief Mian Saeed said that an assailant detonated explosives, and two other attackers were shot dead by security forces after the attack. The incident took place at around 8 AM this morning.

Several residents claim to have heard explosions

Several residents took to X to claim that they heard an explosion and gunshots when the initial report of the attack came in. Some reports on social media also claimed that the attack on the Frontier Corps headquarters took place after two explosions were heard. Active firing can also be heard in some of the videos that have gone viral. The Pakistani authorities later confirmed the two blasts as suicide bombings.

How the attack took place

"The first suicide bomber first attacked the main entrance of the constabulary and the other one entered the compound," a senior official told Reuters on condition of anonymity. After the incident, the road outside the FC headquarters has been closed. The area has been cordoned off after the attack.

In the meantime, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed the attack to Geo TV. He stated that the Saddar area. "One explosion took place at the main gate and the other at the motorcycle stand. The motorcycle stand is located inside the gate," he was quoted as saying.

In a similar attack this year in Quetta, at least ten people lost their lives and several others were injured in a terror attack after a car bomb exploded outside the paramilitary headquarters.
