New Delhi: A major incident has come to light from Lucknow, where around a hundred sheep suddenly died simultaneously near the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal.

A shepherd said that he had gone to graze his sheep in the field near Rashtriya Prerna Sthal, where food packets, puris, and vegetables were scattered all over the field. The grazing sheep ate the puris thrown in the open, after which their health deteriorated, and about a hundred sheep have died from yesterday till this morning.

The mystery of poison and food

Food packets were distributed at the ground, which was converted into a parking lot for buses, on the occasion of the inauguration of Rashtriya Prerna Sthal. A large amount of food was wasted, and the cooked puris and vegetables were spread all over the field and thrown at various places. The animals that came for grazing ate them, and only after that do these deaths occur, people say.

Probe into the matter

Now, an animal NGO has demanded an investigation into the matter. Even after the inauguration of Prerna Sthal, the grounds were not cleaned, and this serious incident has come to light. Although whether dozens of sheep died after eating the same puris is a matter of investigation, prima facie, these allegations are being made.

The big question is why a grazing ground was converted into a parking lot, and the cleaning work wasn't done even after four days. The images at the scene are harrowing as dead sheep lie scattered about. Some were barely alive, their eyes nearly closed. One animal sitting with her calf was unable to get up and was slowly gasping for breath.

Livestock farmer Shiv Ratan Pal said that he has been raising sheep for so many years, but this is the first time such an incident has taken away his source of livelihood. The sudden death of such a large number of sheep has devastated the poor herder, as his entire family depends on sheep farming.
