Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday distributed keys of flats constructed in Lucknow’s upscale Dalibagh area. The keys were distributed to 72 families. The flats were constructed on the land recovered from mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari’s illegal possession.
These flats have been built under the government’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme. Each of these flats are priced at Rs 10.70 lakhs. The lottery process for these flats was completed on Tuesday.
“Today’s programme is not just a programme. It has a message as well. If the property that belonged to society, a poor or a businessman is captured by a mafia, then he will face the same fate and also in Prayagraj earlier in the past,” Adityanath said after distributing keys.
He added, “This is the prime location of Lucknow. Beneficiaries are able to purchase these flats at Rs 10.70 lakh. But if you look at the market rate here, he flay costs near Rs 1 crore. But I wanted the land taken from the mafia to be used to build flats for the poor.”
Warning supporters of the mafia, he said, “This is also a warning to those who are close to the mafia. Those who hug the mafia and exploit the poor. They cannot do the same in Uttar Pradesh. However, one thing is common everywhere. That they are not of anybody. They are just professional criminals. They only exploit the poor, loot businessmen to make their own properties, and are a threat to the common people of this country.”
“When I made the CM in 2019, I took a pledge to improve the image of the state. We need to change the negative image of Uttar Pradesh. For this we need to have zero tolerance towards criminals. I want to say that those who still have sympathy for mafia are digging their own grave,” the CM added further.
