New Delhi: Maharashtra witnessed another disturbing incident after a 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a hotel room. According to reports, the woman mistakenly entered the wrong room, after which the accused allegedly took advantage of the situation.
The police identified the three accused as Ghyansham Rathod (25), Rishikesh Chavan (27), and Kiran Rathod (25). Ghyansham and Kiran work as recovery agents, while Chavan is reportedly pursuing an MBA. The victim, who works as a nurse, had allegedly gone to meet a friend to seek financial assistance.
How a small mistake had disastrous consequences
The woman was reportedly struggling to make ends meet. While her husband had recently secured a job, the family was still facing financial difficulties. The victim is also the mother of an infant.
Considering her deteriorating financial condition, one of her friends agreed to help her and called her to a hotel to discuss the matter and offer assistance. At around 11 pm, the victim stepped out of the room to make a phone call. While returning, she mistakenly entered Room No. 205 instead of Room No. 105.
When she asked about her friend, the three men reportedly denied his presence in the room. As the woman attempted to leave, one of the accused allegedly pulled her back inside, following which she was gang-raped. In her statement, the victim also alleged that she was forcibly made to consume alcohol by the accused.
Complaint registered
The incident allegedly took place between 11 pm and around 3–4 am. At approximately 3 am, the victim managed to escape from the hotel room and raised an alarm. She later approached the Vedant Nagar police station to lodge a complaint.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of gang rape, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation. Investigations are currently underway.
