Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi for a two-day state visit, marking the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. President Putin's arrival at Palam Air Force Station saw a warm embrace from PM Modi, a gesture a Kremlin spokesperson described as unexpected. Cultural performances highlighted the blending of cultures.

Following the airport welcome, the leaders travelled together to 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Ministers official residence, for a private dinner and over two hours of talks. PM Modi expressed his delight on social media platform X, underscoring the "time-tested" India-Russia friendship.

Day two of the visit is set to feature the formal summit, a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, and a tribute at Rajghat, with discussions focusing on wide-ranging issues including trade, investment, economic cooperation, and defence ties.
